RCMP Athabasca investigates fatality All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) incident

On June 4, 2013 Athabasca, RCMP attended an all-terrain vehicle rollover in a remote area location north west of Rock Island Lake, Alberta.  A 58-year-old male was located deceased beside his ATV.  Early investigation reveals that the male was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.  RCMP Athabasca officers as well as Alberta Occupational Health and Safety are investigating the incident.  The deceased male was working at the time of the collision and employed by Husky Energy.  It is believed that alcohol is not a factor, the name is being withheld pending notification of family.

Athabasca RCMP would like to thank the Calling Lake Fire Rescue and the Calling Lake Search and Rescue who attended and assisted with the matter.

The RCMP would like to remind the public that when out operating all-terrain vehicles, wearing a helmet and safety gear is strongly recommended.   It is further suggested to advise someone, such as family or friends, about where you plan on riding, who you are riding with, and when you will be returning.
