Thunderstorm Claims Life of Camper

the Touchwood Lake Campground for a report of a male being struck by a tree.  This campground is located approximately 40 kilometres northeast of Lac La Biche.

Upon arrival of emergency personnel, it was learned that a 64 year old male was attempting to secure items at a campsite as a thunderstorm was coming in the area.  While the male was outside of his trailer a part of a tree broke off and fell on the male.  The 64 year old male was declared deceased on scene.

The male is not from the Lac La Biche area and was camping with his family at the time of the incident.  His name is not being released at this time and his death has been ruled as non-suspicious.

The thunderstorm that struck the area last night produced lightening, heavy rain and strong wind gusts of in excess of 80 km/hr.
