Fort McMurray police officer justified in shooting

On November 23rd, 2012, the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team was assigned to investigate an officer-involved shooting occurring in Fort McMurray, Alberta.

On that day, members of the RCMP dealt with a 911 complaint at a residence in Fort McMurray.  During the course of their involvement in this investigation, Victor Jennings, age 42, was shot and injured by members of the RCMP.

ASIRT conducted an independent investigation into the actions of the RCMP.  The Director has determined that no criminal charges will flow as a result of the conduct of the RCMP on that date.

Victor Jennings is currently facing 5 charges stemming from his involvement in this incident.  He is scheduled to attend court for trial on December 2, 2013.

As Mr. Jennings is currently facing charges in relation to this matter, no further information can be released at this time.
