Today the Wood Buffalo ITU decided to “go big or go home” and asked Firehall #1 to borrow their fire truck for the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.

The Alberta Integrated Traffic Unit (ITU) is a provincial unit made up of Alberta Traffic Sheriffs and RCMP provincial traffic members who have combined operations in order to deliver a more effective enforcement service to Albertans. There are approximately 25 ITU offices in the province.

In Fort McMurray we actually have 2 traffic units.  The RCMP Municipal Traffic Unit is local and focused on more city issues. The Wood Buffalo ITU (who are pictured in the photos) are focused more on highway issues.  They focus on high speeds, dangerous drivers, impaired drivers, distracted drivers, etc.

The officers who participated in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge were:

  • Sheriff Sergeant Wanda-Kaye COSTELLO
  • RCMP Corporal Craig BESON
  • RCMP Sergeant Julie MURPHY
  • Sheriff Collin DIPASQUALE
  • RCMP Cst. Jon JONSON
  • Sheriff Alexander MORING
  • Sheriff Sean BREMER
  • RCMP Cst. Gary LEBLANC
  • RCMP Cst. Margaret TRACZ
