I’m dropping the F word: Faith. Now you might be like I was a few years back and say “no thanks” but hear me out really quick. You already have faith today and you didn’t even realize you were using it. Faith doesn’t have to be religious, it is as simple as driving your car and having faith that the oncoming traffic is going to stay on their side of the yellow line. Right now you are either indoors with faith that the roof isn’t going to collapse down on you, or you are outside with faith that you aren’t about to be struck by lightning. Varying degrees of faith are present in everything that we do, and it’s important that we recognize this. If we didn’t have faith it would be near impossible to even get out of bed in the morning. We would have zero certainty in our lives.
Faith is essentially the opposite of fear, and this is where our awareness becomes critical. Where there is faith there can be no fear, and vice versa. So we need to make the choice to either live our lives in fear of what’s around the corner, or with faith that we can manage whatever life throws at us. It’s as simple as accepting that you are strong and brave, and that life will never give you more than you can handle.
It’s almost embarrassing to fathom how many hours of my life have been spent worrying about something that never happened; when I could have been using that time to simply enjoy the splendour that life has to offer. I could have been smelling the roses, I could have been laughing with loved ones, and I could have been living life rather than fearing it.
Often we hear stories of people who become very sick, or have near death experiences, and from that moment on they live their lives with an entirely new outlook. They let go of the fear that has been ruling their thoughts in favour of seizing the moment and cherishing each day they are alive. Wouldn’t it be in our best interest to learn from these people’s examples without having to bare the pain and suffering that these individuals had to endure to get to this point? Couldn’t we simply make the decision to take control of our minds, and have faith that life is here for us to enjoy?
Choose faith when life gets tough, and know that everything happens for a reason. If something as critical as the air that we breathe can be taken care of for the rest of our lives, don’t you think other things in our life can work themselves out too? Believe that you are important and you are on this planet for a purpose. Find that purpose and live your life with passion. Continue to dream big unapologetically and never give up.
Have faith that anything you ever dreamed of can be a reality, and it will be. Whether you believe you can, or believe you can’t – you’re right. So have faith in yourself, in your destiny, and in your actions and watch your life transform all around you. Miracles happen every day in our lives, you just have to be looking for them!
