Man dies following shots fired complaint

A 22-year-old Fort McMurray man died following the report of a shots fired complaint at approximately 4:00 a.m. on May 26, 2015 at an apartment complex on Clearwater Crescent in Fort McMurray. Upon arrival, Wood Buffalo RCMP officers located a male inside the building suffering from what appeared to be a gunshot wound. The male was transported to hospital in Fort McMurray where he later died.

The results of the autopsy today confirmed this as a homicide. The RCMP are not, at time, releasing the name of the Victim

As this matter is under investigation, it would be premature to determine if there is any connection with other investigations.

Wood Buffalo RCMP General Investigation Section, Serious Crimes Unit and RCMP Edmonton Major Crimes Unit are currently investigating this recent incident which is not believed to be a random incident.

Police are asking anyone with information to please contact the detachment to assist in solving this crime. Further information will be released as it becomes available.
