RCMP continue shooting incident investigation

RCMP in Fort McMurray are continuing to investigate a serious shooting incident that occurred in the early morning hours of July 24, 2015.
Constable Mylene Michon from the Wood Buffalo detachment said that the RCMP responded to shots being fired near Highway 63 near the Quarry Ridge development south of Fort McMurray.

Upon arriving the RCMP discovered a 38 year old male unresponsive and he was transported to the hospital. As off July 27, 2015 the victim remained in an Edmonton hospital and is in stable but serious condition.
The incident is being investigated by the Wood Buffalo Serious Crime Unit (SCU) and by the General Investigation Section (GIS), but at this time they have no description of the suspect.

“As soon as there is any update on the suspect or any other information, we will give the update immediately,” said Cst. Michon.

If the public has any information or if they saw any suspicious activity in the Gregoire/Beaconhill area between midnight and 7 a.m. on July 24, they are asked to call the Wood Buffalo RCMP at 780-788-4000, or they can contact their nearest police service, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
