From the Editor’s Desk
By DAWN BOOTH, Connect Weekly’s Managing Editor
The Christmas Eve edition of Connect Weekly will be the last issue for 2015. As we quickly head into the New Year, I send wishes out to all the residents of the Wood Buffalo region to have a safe and happy holiday season.
For those without family, (whether they are far away, or no longer with us) may we keep them close in our hearts during this joyous time of the year.
I would like to also send a big shout to our community for coming together. To the organizers of the 2015 Santas Anonymous campaign, congratulations on filling a record number of hampers. In regards to fundraising for Bo Cooper, it seems everywhere I turn, there’s a new initiative or donation box. Great work, Fort McMurray. Also, at press time, the Salvation Army of Fort McMurray was at 75 per cent of their 2015 goal. It’s been a remarkable several weeks of fundraising.
For those residents out celebrating the festivities, please don’t drink and drive. Take a bus or a cab and leave your keys at home. The risk isn’t worth it – ever, but the wait for a bus or cab is.
It’s been an interesting and exciting 2015 in our region and I look forward to wrapping up an overview in the January 7, 2016 edition.
Until then, stay connected!
