Peter Pond Mall’s second annual Easter Egg Hunt set for Sunday
By DAWN BOOTH, Connect Weekly
Peter Cottontail has made the Peter Pond Mall his stopping ground since earlier this month and has been busy modelling with locals for springtime photos. With Easter Sunday vastly approaching, the famous bunny will leave a big hunt behind for the second time.
The mall’s second annual free Easter Egg Hunt will take place on March 27 from noon to 3 p.m. Peter Pond Mall’s Marketing Coordinator Amanda MacPherson said the staff and tenants are excited to welcome residents for the big day.
“We want to be part of making the community a welcoming environment for all,” MacPherson said. “We feel that hosting events like this help us promote community goodwill. Plus, it’s something fun parents and children can enjoy together that creates a lasting memory and new Easter tradition.”
The event is open to the first 400 registered children aged newborn to 12. (Parents can pre-register through Eventbrite at www.peterpondmalleasteregghunt.eventbrite.ca, or register the day of at the Centre Court – if space is still available.)
Once the hunt begins, guests are invited to hunt from store to store for Easter candy and chocolate. Easter bags will be made available, but children are encouraged to bring their own baskets.
Participating stores will have special signage out front to indicate they have treats inside. A list of the participating stores will also be provided and children can start the hunt from any location within the mall.
MacPherson explains how the mall’s hunt is unique because, not only is it free to attend, guests are welcomed to stay as long as they like to enjoy the atmosphere.
“This hunt gives our tenants a chance to interact with the public in a different way than they are used to,” she said. “It also gives the community – specifically families – the chance to socialize. Most importantly, it’s a feel good event that gives us an opportunity to spread a little happiness.”
A special ‘Hunt for the Giant Easter Egg’ will also take place one hour prior for twelve special children who won the draw to find one of 12 giant eggs. The winners’ parents who pre-registered will be contacted before event day. Participants will meet at the Centre Court at 11 a.m.
Last chance for photos with the Easter Bunny is on Saturday, March 26. Guests can choose whether they want to have the bunny mascot in the photo or simply have the spring-themed background. For a full list of photography prices and packages, go to www.peterpondmall.com/events.
