New temporary dog park opens in Gregoire
By Sheena Hicks, Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo
Before the weather gets too ‘ruff’, residents are invited to bring their pooch to the new temporary dog park in Gregoire.
A temporary dog park has opened in the soccer field behind Fort McMurray Housing Inc., located at 194 Grenfell Crescent in Gregoire. Although this park is a temporary facility, residents are encouraged to bring their four-legged friends out for a doggone good time.
As a reminder, the Beacon Hill Dog Park is also open to all Fort McMurray residents. Pet owners will be able to check in at the security gate upon entry into Beacon Hill for access to the park area.
Residents are also reminded of the dog park located on the north side of Fort McMurray at the St. Gabriel School site in Thickwood, as well as the Waterways Dog Park, located southeast of Horse Pasture Park along Saline Creek Drive.
Signage has been posted to help residents identify the parks.
South locations include: Beacon Hill – Beacon Hill Drive, Gregoire – 194 Grenfell Crescent, and Waterways – Saline Creek Drive.
North location is in Thickwood at St. Gabriel School site, 585 Signal Road.
Residents planning to visit the Beacon Hill and Waterways Dog Parks are encouraged to drive with caution as the parks are located in the vicinity of haul routes for debris removal and there may be large vehicles in the area.
Residents planning to visit the Waterways Dog Park are requested to access the area via Prairie Loop Boulevard to Saline Creek Drive as the neighbourhood of Waterways is still a restricted area.
